Innovative Alloy Achieves Weight Reduction

German manufacturer Tubex is entering the aluminium aerosol can market with a novel, patented alloy and the simultaneous use of up to 60 per cent post-consumer recycled aluminium (PCR). The innovative alloy achieves a weight reduction for the can of 20 per cent or more compared to conventional types of cans. The new can also allows complex and intricate shapes to be produced in exactly the same way as was previously possible. The choice of the can’s real PCR content is made by the client, according to the individual packaging requirements and the company’s strategic goals. It was only possible for Tubex to achieve the highly technical and sophisticated slug solution needed by joining forces with external experts and metallurgists.
